Lesson Objectives

• The student will
• A.  Identify the most suitable habitats for
  plants and animals.
• B.  Recognize how populations in a community
  depend on each other for survival by sequencing
  the flow of energy through a food chain.
• Classify members of a food chain as producers or
  consumers. Sequence the flow of energy through a
  food chain beginning with the Sun.
• Predict the possible effects by removing an
  organism from a food chain.

Student Assignment

• First, you need to find a partner to work with.
  You and your partner need to decide on the animal
  you think the zoo should acquire. Report your
  decision to the teacher.
• Once you have decided on your animal, visit the
  web sites suggested and use the list of other
  resources to find information on your animal. 
• Use the information you have found to complete
  the form to make our class book on animal
  habitats. You will need to include a picture of
  your animal and its habitat. These may be drawn
  by you, cut from a magazine, or be from one of
  your web sites.
• You and your partner will need to make a diorama
  to present to the class and be prepared to tell
  about your animal choice and what things are in
  its habitat. Remember that an animals habitat
  must include
• food source
• water
• shelter
• place to raise its young
