Notes on General Defense
  • Cardinal rule if it is WINDY Defence should
most likely be a ZONE. Otherwise, a standard
    man-on-man defence may be undertaken.
  • When you start marking you need to think about
how he cuts, and where you should be standing in
    relation to the force!!
  • Go through him if you know he is prone to slowing
    down.
  • Pick someone you know you can perform against, if
early in the game you get a d on him keep marking
him, as hell be thinking still about that
earlier d, and wont want you marking him!!
  • If your constantly getting beat to the disc, try
marking someone else dont keep marking him!! and
speak up on the line if you dont want to mark
    someone.
  • If youre the back man, its critical you look
around and dont let anyone run deep of you at
any time, even if that means letting your man go
forwards to the disc. Call a switch in this
situation!!! And use your team mates name not
    just switch!!!
  • Keep your force!!!! by that dont cheat round too
much to get the block as then you leave yourself
    open on the closed side.
  • Remember what force was called on the line!! Also
what offence when you get the turnover is equally
important to remember, if you stand on the line
and dont know it ask someone!!
  • When you get the turnover after any defence
remember to either pick up the disc and start
playing fast if there is an obvious break on or
let the handlers pick it up. Under no
circumstances should you pick it up with no one
    in front of you!!!
  • So keep the force and remember to listen on the
    line!!!

BUZZ Words
  • There are a number of BUZZ words/phrases (written
in capitals throughout this document) which have
specific meanings. When someone makes a call
everyone should repeat it until we are sure
everyone has heard it. As well as the names of
    different offences and
  • defences, etc. they words are
  • Note Lets translate the English BUZZ words to
Vietnamese for better recall, wot ya think?
  • Word Meaning
  • DANGER Someone is running deep, look for the
    huck
  • ATTACK Stack in the middle and start playing our
endzone offence. Whatever offence we had
called is now broken in favour of the central
    stack.
  • MEKONG Basic vertical Offensive stack flow. (see
    visualization on the next slides)
