to be a follower of Christ, but
doesnt transfer that claim into everyday life

what do most people think followers of Christ
are like? is this accurate? what has to
happen for this perception to change?

13 "Let me tell you why you are here. You're here
to be salt-seasoning that brings out the
God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your
saltiness, how will people taste godliness?
You've lost your usefulness and will end up in
the garbage. 14 "Here's another way to put it
You're here to be light, bringing out the
God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to
be kept. We're going public with this, as public
as a city on a hill. 15 If I make you
light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide
you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a
light stand. 16 Now that I've put you there on a
hilltop, on a light stand shine! Keep open
house be generous with your lives. By opening up
to others, you'll prompt people to open up with

salt and light are only good if theyre used
in proper proportions - wisdom (and experience)
tells us how much to use and when to use it
spirituality must be in proper proportions
sometimes, in an effort to be sensitive and
respectful, were silent when we should be loud

30 Jesus answered by telling a story. "There was
once a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho.
On the way he was attacked by robbers. They took
his clothes, beat him up, and went off leaving
him half-dead. 31 Luckily, a priest was on his
way down the same road, but when he saw him he
angled across to the other side. 32 Then a Levite
religious man showed up he also avoided the
injured man. 33 "A Samaritan traveling the road
came on him. When he saw the man's condition, his
heart went out to him. 34 He gave him first aid,
disinfecting and bandaging his wounds. Then he
lifted him on to his donkey, led him to an inn,
and made him comfortable.
