• Characters created with a series of dots
• Impact Printing
• Pretty good quality
• Fairly fast printing

Ink Jet Printing

• High quality, low cost printing
• Commonly found in homes
• Non-impact printing
• Inexpensive way to get color
• Similar in design to dot matrix, but ink is
  sprayed from a matrix of nozzles

Laser Printing

• The highest quality, quietest printing available
• Works essentially like a Xerox machine
• Can produce nearly typeset quality
• Typically used only for black white as color
  options are VERY expensive

Sound cards

• Allow sounds (other than beeps) to be produced by
  the computer
• Useful for business and GAMES
• Most new computers have them
