• Run by a manager who decides what he or she is
  going to buy and sell with all the investors
  money

• Before you buy a managed mutual fund, look to see
  how long the manager has been in charge

• Examples of an index fund include
• The SP 500
• The Wilshire 5000 equity index
• The Russell 2000 index

Mutual Fund Investment

• Most mutual funds require a starting balance of
  1000 to 3000 dollars for money outside of IRAs
• Within an IRA the starting balance can go as low
  as 25.00 and up
