  • Vascular access where a smaller, shorter catheter
    is indicated
  • The device offers a telescoping safety shield
    that encases the needle as it is withdrawn from
    the catheter to protect against NSI

  • Insertion procedure for subcutaneous catheters
  • Remove hair using clippers if necessary to
    improve adherence of the dressing
  • Physically clean the skin (if necessary) prior to
    applying the antiseptic solution and inserting
    the catheter
  • Wash hands and forearms for 60 seconds (clinical
    handwash)
  • Prep the skin with alcoholic chlorhexidine

  • Insertion procedure
  • Apply the solution vigorously to an area of skin
    approximately 15cm in diameter, in a circular
    motion beginning in the centre of the proposed
    site and moving outward, for at least 30 seconds
  • Allow to air dry do not wipe or blot
  • Do not re-palpate the site after applying the
    antiseptic solution
  • Utilise an aseptic technique to insert the
    catheter

    semi-permeable self-adhesive, polyurethane
    dressing
