• Graduate of West Chester University.
• BSED in Social Studies, Minor in Chemistry.
• State Certification in Social Studies and
  Chemistry

• Inner-city Catholic High School
• Most African American students(95)
• The other 5 is Asian, Latino and white

• Student taught social studies in South West
  Philly at Pepper Middle School.
• Taught two years at West. 3 chem. classes, and 2
  physical science.

• Next year I will have 4 physical science, and 1
  chem. class.
• The size of each class will probably be between
  30-35.
• The grades are usually more boys then girls.

The Class

• With two classes come two styles.
• Chemistry- lecture, problem solving, lab
• Physical Science- lecture and notes, simple
  problem solving, slight chance of lab.

The Class- Chemistry

• Lecture- explanation of new concept of vocabulary
• Problem Solving- application of new vocabulary
  and concept
• Lab- when possible, illustration of lecture and
  problem solving.

The Class- Physical Science

• Lecture- Science Language- Translating as much of
  the new terms into English they can understand.
• Problem solving- introduction of math into
  science.

The Class- Physical Science

• Lab- This is lab boot camp. The basics of lab
  behavior, and conducting experiments. Also Lab
  safety procedure. I do not want another fire.
