State Flag
  • The Oregon State Flag is the only state flag
    displaying different images on each side. The
    front shows a heart shaped shield with an eagle
    on top, surrounded by 33 stars, for the 33 states
    in 1859. On the opposite side it shows a beaver,
    the state animal.

Oregon Grape
  • In 1890 the Oregon Horticultural Society
    formed a committee to decide on the state flower.
    Many flowers were considered such as the
    Washington Lilly, Wake-Ribbon and the Oregon
    Grape.
  • Two years later the committee decided on
    the Oregon Grape.

  • The Oregon state bird is the Western Meadow Lark.
    It is also the state bird for Kansas, Montana ,
    Nebraska, North Dakota and Wyoming.
