  • Goals/Scope of the course
  • Understanding of physical processes acting on
    solid solar system bodies
  • Understanding the state and geologic history of
    solar system bodies
  • Solar system bodies planets, moons, asteroids,
    KBOs, comets and more

This course will always be a work in
progress! Feedback and class participation are
vital!

  • No final or mid-term exams.
  • 6 homework assignments (6 x 10) 60
  • Homeworks are meant to be hard dont wait until
    the last minute!
  • Discussion of ideas is encouraged plagiarism is
    not!
  • If you have a doubt ask me.
  • 1 course project
  • Oral Presentations 20
  • Written Report 20
  • Early discussion of project topics is recommended
  • Graduate (PTYS 511) and undergraduate (PTYS 411)
    differences
  • Graduates get more questions on the homeworks
  • Graduate research project must be original
    research
  • Undergrads may do a thorough literature review
    instead.
  • Borderline grade decisions (within a percent) can
    be positively influenced by good class
    participation.
