Sigma Image
  • What is Sigma Image?
  • Sigma Image is the concept of how the public sees
us as an organization and how we as an
organization present ourselves to the public. Our
image is very important so we must have control
of it if we as an organization will continue to
show the world we are the premier sorority. Our
image is a profound way of showing our interests,
businesses, and enterprising partners who we
    are
  • Appeals to the type of women we want in our
sisterhood thus affecting our growth and success
  • Reflects our pride as an organization
  • Can attract positive or negative attention
depending upon how we use it or present our
    image
  • Shows why the Sigma woman is held in such high
    regard

not walk into a room speaking loudly wearing

When a Sigma woman enters a room, automatically
all heads turn because she is elegant, classy and
    chic.

Skirt Lengths
  • Skirts should fall just below the knee or longer.
    Mini-skirts to business meetings are
    inappropriate.
  • If the skirt is unlined or made of light fabric,
make sure to wear a slip underneath.
  • Evening wear should cover the body. Make sure
clothing is not pulling or tugging in
inappropriate places. We all fluctuate in size so
make sure to try clothing on in advance to ensure
    correct fit.

Sigma Donts
  • Too much cleavage is inappropriate- you should
never appear as if youre about to burst from
    your blouse
  • Clothing shouldnt be pulling or tugging
    anywhere!
  • No flesh should be hanging out of your skirt or
    pants

Evening Wear
Everyone has their personal taste when it comes
to Evening Wear, however, make sure your outfit
is tasteful, elegant and classy. You should be
wearing appropriate Sigma colors
depending upon the theme. Make sure you follow
the Syntaktes or Grand Basileus lead. If shes
not wearing a gown, then you shouldnt either. Us
ually for the Boule, gowns are appropriate. For a
Regional Conference, either a formal suit or gow
n is appropriate. Always check with the hosting
chapter if youre not sure. Check with the Protoc
ol Manual as well.
12
Jewerly
  • Sigma pins should be worn on the left side of
your blazer or suit. The official pin is never
worn on the outer lapel of a coat jacket. You may
wear it with a suit jacket. The rule of thumb to
know when youre wearing too much jewelry is to
take one item off before leaving your home. Less
is more. Every Sigma Woman should own a string of
pearls whether they are real or faux.

13

    to
  • Pins
  • Scarves

16
Alcohol and Profanity
  • Alcohol should not be consumed while wearing
paraphernalia. Pins and jackets should be removed
    before approaching a bar.
  • A Sigma Woman refrains from using profanity in
public. Sigma Women are known to be highly
    intelligent individuals who are thoroughly
educated enough to possess an extensive
vocabulary. Profanity is not necessary for
    conversation.

17
Tattoos
  • Tattoos while they may be the rage at the moment,
are not to be displayed at a Sigma function.
  • If a tattoo is located on the arm, a jacket of
sorts should be worn to cover it. Make-up can be
applied as well to cover the tattoo. If there is
a tattoo on the leg, make-up is best or a opaque
    pantyhose will suffice.

Diva Attitude
  • Attitude defined
  • Attitudes are the established ways of responding
to people and situations that we have learned,
based on the beliefs, values and assumptions we
hold. Attitudes become manifest through your
    behavior.
  • Your Attitude Determines Your Altitude!
  • Your attitude can reflect negatively or
positively on this organization. Even when not
wearing your Sigma colors, you represent Sigma.
  • A Positive Attitude Reflects a Positive Image!

20
Attitudeby Charles Swindoll
  • The longer I live, the more I realize the impact
of attitude on life.Attitude, to me, is more
important than facts. It is more important than
the past, than education, than money, than
    circumstances, than failures, than successes,
than what other people think or say or do. It is
more important than appearance, giftedness or
skill. It will make or break a company... a
church... a home. The remarkable thing is we
have a choice every day regarding the attitude we
will embrace for that day. We cannot change our
past... we cannot change the fact that people
will act in a certain way. We cannot change the
inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on
the one string we have, and that is our
attitude... I am convinced that life is 10 what
happens to me and 90 how I react to it.And so
it is with you... we are in charge of our
    attitudes.

21
Public Behavior
  • Besides looking the part of a Royal Lady, you
have to act the part as well. Sigma Women, no
matter the circumstances keep their composure.
Street we are not! We are better than that. If
there is a problem with another soror, lets keep
in house. Discuss the matter in private. Dont
air out your dirty laundry in public! Remember
its always best to walk away from an unpleasant
    situation.
