    AIDS status
  • No retroactive reporting prior to July 1997
  • Patients are tested on a self-selected basis
  • Anonymous tests are not reported
  • Data represents a minimum estimate of HIV
    prevalence

AIDS Cases Among Men Florida, Reported 1994-2003
6
Adult AIDS Cases by Sex and Year of Report,
Florida, 1994-2003
MF Ratio 1994 3.51 2003 2.31

transmission that occurred many years ago.
The relative increases in female cases reflect
the changing face of the AIDS epidemic over time.

Adult HIV Cases (regardless of AIDS status) by
Sex and Year of Report, Florida, 1998-2003
MF Ratio 1998 1.71 2003 2.21
Comment The relative increases in male HIV cases
might be attributed to recent increases in
HIV transmission among men who have sex with men
(MSM), which may influence future AIDS
trends. HIV data includes those cases that have
converted to AIDS. These HIV cases cannot be
added with AIDS cases to get combined totals
since the categories are not mutually exclusive.

per 100,000 Population among Male Adults and
Adolescents by Race/Ethnicity Reported in 2002,
United States
These numbers do not represent actual cases in
persons with a diagnosis of AIDS. Rather,
these numbers are point estimates of cases
diagnosed that have been adjusted for reporting
delays. The estimates have not been adjusted for
incomplete reporting. Data exclude cases from the
US dependencies, possessions, and associated
nations, as well as cases in persons whose state
or area of residence is unknown, because of the
lack of census information by race and age
categories for these areas.
