  • A flu virus as deadly as the one that caused the
    1918 Spanish flu could kill as many as 81 million
    worldwide if it struck today.
  • Study done at Harvard University fall 2006
    published in The Lancet (one of the oldest

Pandemic Flu at RIT

  • What is RIT doing to prepare for avian flu?  
  • RIT has formed a pandemic planning team of key
    service and response departments to prepare a
    pandemic response plan. The plan will address the
    specific threat that pandemic poses.
  • RIT is working with the Monroe County Public
    Health Department to coordinate planning and
    align response. We participate in the Public
    Health Emergency Management Office (PHEMO)
    Communicable Disease and Bioterrorism Task Force.
  • RIT has existing Emergency Response and Crisis
    Management mechanisms in place.
