    emergency June 7th for these areas
  • Expires this evening without Assembly extension
  • Work not completed due to delayed permitting and
    gravel extraction fee issues with ADNR
  • Requesting Assembly approve an extension through
    June 27th
  • Governor working on KPB request to waive fees and
    expedite permit

  • Old Mill (Lost Creek)
  • initial calls of overflowing septic systems and
    high groundwater
  • KPB and DEC immediately responded
  • gravel from October floods 8 feet deep in Lost
    Creek, ground saturated, underground springs and
    groundwater causing damage
  • Limited options to reduce groundwater problems

  • Similar gravel deposit and heavy runoff and rain
    cause Salmon Creek to flow over bank directly
    into mouth of Clear Creek causing back eddy and
    slough effect
  • Clear Creek begins to back up, impinging on
    highway, KPB roads and private property and
    businesses.

ACTIONS TAKEN
  • Asked DHS for technical support, site visits to
    determine what assistance can be provided quickly
  • State, federal, KPB did a detailed site visit
    June 7th
  • Maintained contact with residents of each area
  • Completed permits with KRC, State Habitat and
    Corps of Engineers in less than one day
  • Performed emergency work in Lost Creek
  • Salmon Creek emergency work delayed due to ADNR
    issues
  • Met with Governor to waive fees for 2-weeks

  • Attempting to mobilize Salmon Creek work today,
    pending permit issuance from ADNR or waiver from
    Governor
  • Both areas of emergency work are intended for
    short term relief to property owners to recover
  • Few immediate options remain
  • Total cost of emergency work estimated at 10 -
    14,000
  • NRCS (USDA) has committed up to 10,000
    reimbursement to KPB for emergency work\
  • Initiated discussion with State and Federal
    agencies for long-term, significant mitigation
    measures
