Central Library Renovation
  • We are beginning the 3rd phaseof our renovation
    on November 9
  • Adult and Teen services will be temporarily
    located to 290 S. Anaheim Blvd. (at Broadway)
  • Childrens and Jr. High services will remain open
    at the current location
  • Last day of full service at Central Library is
    Thursday, November 5
  • Dual service begins on Monday, November 9, and
    will continue through April 2010

Where Do We Go From Here?
  • Hours at the Adult Teen Library will remain the
    same
  • The Childrens Jr. High Library at the current
    location will be closing an hour earlier on
    weekdays
  • Materials may be returned to either facility,
    outside book drops are available at both locations

What Will Change Now ThatWe Are At Two Locations?
  • The Childrens Room will offer the same
    collections programs, but will close at 800pm
    on weeknights
  • The Adult Teen collections will be smaller but
    all library materials will be available through
    the reserve process
  • There is no WiFi service available for laptop
    users at the Adult Teen Library

The Remodeled Library
  • New ADA-compliant restrooms added on the 2nd
    floor
  • A new ADA-compliant elevator
  • Improved, energy-efficient lighting
  • Larger computer lab, and additional computers
  • Separate Media Room
  • Friends Bookstore

Why the Changes?
  • The library was built in 1963 and does not meet
    current building codes
  • This phase of the renovation will address ADA
    accessibility
  • Aging building systems will be updated, with
    energy-efficient improvements to lighting,
    plumbing, and electrical
