Birthday Celebrations
  • This year we will celebrate birthdays on Thinking
    Cap Daythe last Friday of each month.
  • The room mother will contact you to see if you
    would like to contribute. (Please contact your
    childs homeroom teacher if you are interested in
    being room mother.)

  • Healthy snack water
  • Guidelines from our Wellness Committee
  • 1. Food items should not have sugar or high
    fructose corn syrup as the first ingredient.
  • 2. Food items should not have more than 8 grams
    of fat per serving.
  • 3. Only drinks such as 100 fruit juice,
    Gatorade/PowerAde or water as a beverage to be
    served at lunch.

Attendance Policy JBD
  • Students are allowed 5 excused absences per
    semester.
  • After 5 absences, all notes must be a medical
    note from a healthcare provider. Absences
    without a medical note will be considered
    unexcused and the student will not be allowed to
    make up work.
  • Students must bring a note for the absence within
    2 days of the absence.
  • We recommend the parents making a copy of all
    notes sent to school.
  • This policy is on the CCBOE website in more
    detail.

Grading Policy
  • Language Artscounty wide policy
  • Reading 70
  • English 20
  • Spelling 10
  • Every subject
  • Tests count twice
  • Daily grades count once
  • Papers will come home as soon as they are graded
    for immediate feedback. Students will record
    grade in planner. Daily grades are indicated by
    DG and Test grades are indicated by TG.
  • Honor Roll is determined by Language Arts, Math,
    Science, and Social Studies grades

  • FridaySpelling Test
  • All other tests will be announced in class.
    Students will write the test dates in their
    planner as soon as the date is announced.
  • Study guides will be given for Science and Social
    Studies.
  • Extra Credit opportunities will be given at the
    discretion of the teacher.

Discipline System
  • School Wide Rules
  • 1) Always participate and try your best!
  • 2) Respect others and their property.
  • 3) Always walk silently in the building on the
    tan line (2 blocks away from the wall).
  • 4) Raise your hand to be called on before
    speaking.
  • 5) Always be prepared for class.
  • The class can earn money for their efforts
    together.
  • Individual students may still receive sign-ins.
