References Summary
  • 1. Codan Open Letter to UN 19 April 04 Six
    Digit Selective Calling System
  • Codan had previously opened the protocol for
6-digit Selcall, Group Call, Channel Test
(Beacon) Call Phone (Tel) call in August 2003
  • Codan offered to exchange further details of
    protocols with concerned manufacturers

    April 04
  • Urged concerned manufacturers to implement a
    shared 6-digit Selcall standard
  • Compatibility to be proven certified
  • Codan radio (NGT and 9360 V.3.03) compatible
  • 6 months to bring to market
  • Concrete evidence at Autumn 04 Meeting

4
References Summary (Cont.)
  • Codan - Barrett IP Exchange Deed
  • An appropriate process was agreed to ensure
implementation and testing to achieve fault free
    interoperability between manufacturers for the
    benefit of customers
  • Codan Bid for UN Tender 046/2004 25 Aug 04
  • Support for Codan, Barrett and UN specified

    Intellectual Property Exchange Deed
  • The Deed is aimed at bi-lateral exchange of full
    6-digit Selcall protocol details between
    manufacturers
  • Allows products from either manufacturer to be
fully backwards compatible with currently fielded
    equipment from the other company
  • Ensures fault-free interoperability through
testing prior to making it available to the UN

6
Intellectual Property Exchange Deed Phases
  • Exchange Phase
  • (Completed)
  • Bi-lateral Selcall Protocol Information exchanged
    between companies
  • Implementation Test Phase (Currently underway)

    protocol
  • Each company makes their products available for
interoperability testing with the other company
    product
  • Release Phase (Expected Jan 2005)
  • Each company to release products that are tested
to be interoperable with each other
