WHAT A PRIVILEGE IS OURS!
  • 2 Corinthians 214318

4
Something To Think About!
  • Paul wrote 1 Corinthians to address problems in
the church at Corinth and to answer certain
questions they had raised. Paul experienced
severe anguish over the Corinthian situation (2
Corinthians 24) and wrote another stern letter,
which he sent by Titus. Impatient to learn the
results of that letter and the visit of Titus,
Paul went to Macedonia hoping to meet him. It was
there he finally received the good news (2
    Corinthians 75-16).

KEY VERSE
2 Corinthians 311 For if that which is done
away was glorious, much more that which remaineth
is glorious.

  • Lesson Objectives
  • To understand the background of this letter,
which Paul wrote to the church at Corinth

    to minister
  • To share with others the marvelous liberty found
    in Jesus Christ

  • Our final salvation includes the redemption of
our bodies. Most Greek philosophers considered
the physical body a prison and saw death as a
deliverance from its bondage. Mention of the
resurrection of the body brought sneers at Athens
(Acts 1732), the same spirit that must have
prevailed at Corinth, since it, too, was a Greek
city. Paul viewed the literal bodily resurrection
of Christ as foundational to salvation and as
    proof of the saintsresurrection.

  • THE SUPERIOR GLORY OF MINISTERING THE GOSPEL
  • 2 Corinthians 37-11
  • Exodus 3429-35 Galatians 216
  • Romans 319-20 Hebrews 811

THE LIBERTY IN MINISTERING THE GOSPEL 2
Corinthians 312-18 A Contrast With the Law
(12-15) Exodus 3429-35 The Open Face of the
Lord (16-18) Exodus 3434 1Corinthians 139-12

  • This passage touches on the very soul of worship.
    God-honoring, life-changing worship involves two
essential elements. They are praying with the
spirit and with the understanding also (verse
15). God requires that we worship Him in spirit
and in truth (John 423). Both the head and the
heart must be touched and moved in response.

  • QUESTIONS FOR STUDY AND DISCUSSION
  • 1. Paul writes of triumph in Christ. How do you
reconcile this with the difficulties he described
    in chapter 1?
  • 2. How have some in our day diluted the Word of
God? How can we guard its purity?
  • 3. What value did Moses give to the old covenant,
and how did the new covenant surpass it?
  • 4. How can the ministry be described as both
    difficult and glorious?
  • 5. In what sense do we have liberty in Christ?
  • 6. How is Christlikeness achieved in our lives?
