The SNR (Sub-National Review)

• Economic Development, Regeneration and Business
  Support being re-organised
• Proposal that sub-regional strategic partnerships
  (like LSEP) will go
• Replaced by City-County level body that will
  co-ordinate Economic Development
• Input from elected members, voluntary sector and
  business
• Will be responsible for Strategy and receive
  funding. May also be a delivery body itself

Business Support Simplification

• Driven by Department for Business Enterprise and
  Regulatory Reform (BERR)
• Currently multitude of separate business support
  schemes in England
• Aim to simplify from around 3000 schemes to no
  more than 100 by 2010
• Business Link will be the key brand
• Role of Local Authorities? (regulatory, premises
  provision, etc.)
• Currently of interest to Charnwood because of
  business web site and online directory
