5So, what is the plan?
- Christel Houses Title I program is based on
continuous and systematic support of all at-risk
students. This occurs through carefully planned
interventions, holistic support and development
of students, and development of strong ties
between school, home and the community. - A primary belief behind Christel House Academys
program is based on the idea that all children
need support and guidance from caring adults. - These include ongoing, secure relationships with
parents as well as formal and informal
relationships with teachers, mentors, coaches,
youth volunteers and neighbors.
6To do this, Christel House enlists the support of
a wide variety of community organizations.

7We believe parents provide a significant amount
of influence over their childs education.
- So, what happens when parents dont have the
skills or knowledge to properly support their
children in an appropriate manner?
8- Parents and student are required to sign a
compact between the school and family. The
compact outlines specific supports that the
school requests and promises school support to
students and families. - Parents are asked to pledge a minimum of 2 hours
of volunteerism to the school. (838 hours of
help and assistance) - Parents are required to attend three parent
teacher conference each year. - Teacher visit the homes of the students in their
classrooms. - Literacy and Numeracy nights offer children to
highlight skills for parents and allows parents
to learn effective skills to support their
children at home.
