10 The thiefs purpose is to steal and kill and
destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and
satisfying life. I came so they can have real
and eternal life, more and better life than they
ever dreamed of. (Message) -
John 10

1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with
you to give your bodies to God because of all he
has done for you. Let them be a living and holy
sacrificethe kind he will find acceptable. This
is truly the way to worship him. 2 Dont copy the
behavior and customs of this world, but let God
transform you into a new person by changing the
way you think. Then you will learn to know Gods
will for you, which is good and pleasing and
perfect. - Romans 12 (NLT)

23 The man said, This is now bone of my
bones and flesh of my flesh she shall be called
woman, for she was taken out of man. 24 For
this reason a man will leave his father and
mother and be united to his wife, and they will
become one flesh. 25 The man and his wife were
both naked, and they felt no shame.
- Genesis 2

28But if you do marry, you have not sinned and
if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But
those who marry will face many troubles in this
life, and I want to spare you this. 29What I
mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From
now on those who have wives should live as if
they had none 30those who mourn, as if they did
not those who are happy, as if they were not
those who buy something, as if it were not theirs
to keep 31those who use the things of the world,
as if not engrossed in them. For this world in
its present form is passing away.
- 1 Corinthians 7

1Now for the matters you wrote about It is good
for a man not to marry. 2But since there is so
much immorality, each man should have his own
wife, and each woman her own husband. 3The
husband should fulfill his marital duty to his
wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4The
wife's body does not belong to her alone but also
to her husband. In the same way, the husband's
body does not belong to him alone but also to his
wife. 5Do not deprive each other except by mutual
consent and for a time, so that you may devote
yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so
that Satan will not tempt you because of your
lack of self-control. 6I say this as a
concession, not as a command. 7I wish that all
men were as I am. But each man has his own gift
from God one has this gift, another has that.
8Now to the unmarried and the widows I say It is
good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. 9But if
they cannot control themselves, they should
marry, for it is better to marry than to burn
with passion. - 1 Corinthians 7

18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a
man commits are outside his body, but he who sins
sexually sins against his own body. 19Do you not
know that your body is a temple of the Holy
Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received
from God? You are not your own 20you were bought
at a price. Therefore honor God with your
body. - 1 Corinthians 6

3 Gods will is for you to be holy, so stay away
from all sexual sin. 4 Then each of you will
control his own body and live in holiness and
honor5 not in lustful passion like the pagans
who do not know God and his ways. 6 Never harm or
cheat a Christian brother in this matter by
violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such
sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. 7
God has called us to live holy lives, not impure
lives. 8 Therefore, anyone who refuses to live
this way is not disobeying human teaching but is
rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
- 1 Thessalonians 4

13 Look here, you who say, Today or tomorrow we
are going to a certain town and will stay there a
year. We will do business there and make a
profit. 14 How do you know what your life will
be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning
fogits here a little while, then its gone. 15
What you ought to say is, If the Lord wants us
to, we will live and do this or that. 16
Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans,
and all such boasting is evil. 17 Remember, it
is sin to know what you ought to do and then not
do it. - James 4

17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the
Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom
- 2 Corinthians 3

22 Plans fail for lack of counsel, but
with many advisers they succeed.
- Proverbs 15

Salvation in Christ is being adopted (baptism),
made members of a people, Israel, and the church.
We really believe that if we were not part of
this people we could not be saved. So when the
church has opinions about how you spend your
money, how you have sex, how you vote, this is
salvation. You are not simply being saved from
personal greed or licentiousness, you are thereby
being made a member of Gods people.
- William Willimon and Stanley Hauerwas

25Therefore each of you must put off falsehood
and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are
all members of one body. -
Ephesians 4

23At the center of all this, Christ rules the
church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to
the world the world is peripheral to the church.
The church is Christ's body, in which he speaks
and acts, by which he fills everything with his
presence. - Ephesians 1 (The Message)
