discussing . . .The Doctrine of Christ 2

3 Plainly and simply stated, righteousness is
the quality and type of living that results from
obedience to the laws and ordinances of the
gospel (Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine,
654).

8- A man is saved no faster than he gets
knowledge, for if he does not get knowledge, he
will brought into captivity by some evil power in
the other world, as evil spirits will have more
knowledge, and consequently more power than many
men who are on the earth. Hence it needs
revelation to assist us, and give us knowledge of
the things of God (Teachings of the Prophet
Joseph Smith, p. 217).
9- The grand privilege of every Latter-day Saint.
. . to have the manifestations of the spirit
every day of our lives (President Lorenzo Snow,
CR, April 1899, p. 52).
10- Every man has the privilege to exercise these
gifts and these privileges in the conduct of his
own affairs in bringing up his children in the
way they should go in the management of his
business, or whatever he does. It is his right to
enjoy the spirit of revelation and of inspiration
to do the right thing, to be wise and prudent,
just and good, in everything that he does
(President Harold B. Lee, Stand Ye in Holy Places
Salt Lake City Deseret Book, 1974, pp. 141-42).
11- I will, in the commencement of my remarks, take
up a subject. . . It is regarding the Spirit of
the Lord manifesting his will to his children.
There is no doubt, if a person lives according to
the revelations given to God's people, he may
have the Spirit of the Lord to signify to him his
will, and to guide and to direct him in the
discharge of his duties, in his temporal as well
as his spiritual exercises. I am satisfied,
however, that in this respect, we live far
beneath our privileges (Discourses of Brigham
Young, p.32 - p.33).
12- Now, young people, pay attention! Before I
say another word about personal revelation, I
must tell you so that you cannot possibly
misunderstand There are many spirits which are
false spirits. There can be counterfeit
revelations, promptings from the devil,
temptations! As long as you live, in one way or
another the adversary will try to lead you
astray. . . - The Prophet Joseph Smith said that nothing
is a greater injury to the children of men than
to be under the influence of a false spirit when
they think they have the Spirit of God. . . . - By trial, and some error, you will learn to
heed these promptings (Boyd K. Packer, Personal
Revelation The Gift, The Test, and The Promise,
Ensign, Nov. 94,p. 59).
13Outcome of process 2 Nephi 33
14 Love is one of the chief characteristics of
Deity, and ought to be manifested by those who
aspire to be the sons of God. A man filled with
the love of God, is not content with blessing his
family alone, but ranges through the whole world,
anxious to bless the whole human race. This has
been your feeling, and caused you to forgo the
pleasures of home, that you might be a blessing
to others, who are candidates for immortality,
but strangers to truth and for so doing, I pray
that heavens choicest blessings may rest upon
you (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.
175).
