Title: The Priority of the Kingdom

1
The Priority of the Kingdom
  • How important is the Kingdom of God? It is so
important that our lives depend on it, lirerally.
The Kingdom of God is at the center of
everything. God's every action and activity is
motivated by His desire and passion to see His
    Kingdom established on the earth.
  • How important to the Body of Christ is the
message of the Kingdom? Frankly, we have nothing
else to preach but the Kingdom. If we are doing
our job, everything we are about will be Kingdom
    focused.
  • The Kingdom of God must be our highest priority
Jesus gave us no other commission than to go and
establish and preach the good news of the
    Kingdom. (Matt 2819)
  • See we all live in two worlds a visible
physical world that engages our five senses, and
a invisible spiritual world. We are not natural
having a spiritual experience but we are spirit
    having a natural experience.
  • The spiritual world is more real than the
natural. First we see that the spiritual realm is
larger than the physical and secondly we see that
the spiritual is the realm from which the
    physical world originated.

2
  • In other words the principle is that the
invisible produced the visible. See all things
were created from the mind of a powerful Maker.
  • Col 116 'For by him were all things created,
that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones,
or dominions, or principalities, or powers all
things were created by him, and for him'
  • Therefore the physical world reflects the
spiritual world from which it came. Whatever we
see in the physical world has a corresponding
    greater reality in the spiritual.
  • 2Co 416-18 'For this reason we never become
discouraged. Even though our physical being is
gradually decaying, yet our spiritual being is
renewed day after day. And this small and
temporary trouble we suffer will bring us a
tremendous and eternal glory, much greater than
the trouble. For we fix our attention, not on
things that are seen, but on things that are
unseen. What can be seen lasts only for a time,
but what cannot be seen lasts forever'
  • See God's purpose for creating the visible was to
establish His invisible Kingdom in it. For this
reason He created man in His own image. He
created man with the capacity to communicate with
both the spiritual and the physical realm.

3
  • See God created us as spiritual beings and put on
us physical bodies placed us in a visible world
and gave the order 'go and have dominion over
this created world'. In this way, God planned for
us to rule and exercise control over the earth in
    His name.
  • Gen 126 'and God said, Let us make man in our
image, after our likeness and let them have
    dominion...'
  • Through us His rule of the heavenly Kingdom would
be extended over earth. We were created as
administrators of God's Kingdom on earth.
  • Adam was the first the prototype. Next came Eve
who ruled with Adam as a helper and equal
partner. They disobeyed God and thereby forfeited
their Kingdom rights. Satan illegally usurped the
throne that they abdicated, wreaking havoc ever
since in the hearts and lives of people
    everywhere in every generation.
  • But then God sent Jesus to undo the curse
brought upon mankind by the first Adam. See what
the first Adam, the son of disobedience lost, the
last Adam, the Son of obedience restored.
  • Adam lost the Kingdom Jesus restored the
Kingdom. And ever since Adam's fall God has been
executing His plan to restore mankind to his
    place of dominion.

4
  • 1Co 1520-22 45 'But the truth is that Christ
has been raised from death, as the guarantee that
those who sleep in death will also be raised. For
just as death came by means of a man, in the same
way the rising from death comes by means of a
man. For just as all people die because of their
union with Adam, in the same way all will be
raised to life because of their union with
Christ. For the scripture says, "The first man,
Adam, was created a living being" but the last
    Adam is the life-giving Spirit'
  • God announced His plan for man's restoration in
the same chapter that describes man's fall. God
    said to the snake
  • Gen 315 'I will make you and the woman hate each
other her offspring and yours will always be
enemies. Her offspring will crush your head, and
you will bite her offspring's heel'
  • Here the word head stands for authority. By their
failure to stand up to satan and use their
Kingdom authority to defeat him, Adam and Eve
    lost that authority.
  • But Prophetically God announces a day that would
come when another would arise, an offspring and
descendant of the woman who would crush satan's
authority, take back the power he stole and
restore the scepter of earth's domain to man.
    That offspring was Jesus Christ.

5
  • And everything Jesus did in His earthly ministry
healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out
demons and calming storms He did under His
authority as the Son of Man.
  • See by design God gave dominion of the earth to
    the Son of man.
  • Joh 114 'And the Word became flesh and
tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory,
glory as of an only begotten from the Father,
full of grace and of truth'
  • See Jesus was the Son of God but he took upon
himself flesh and he tabernacled among us so that
today we can also call him the Son of man. And in
his humanity He had no inherent advantages over
    us.
  • Many tend to assume that because He was the Son
of God in the flesh, Jesus was better equipped
than we are. This is not so. Jesus had the same
human stuff we do. He had a physical body that
got tired and knew pain. He needed regular rest
just as we do. He got hungry and needed food, and
    thirsty and needed drink.
  • He faced the same temptations, yet never fell
into sin. He operated under the power of the Holy
Spirit and later gave that same Spirit to us. See
in everything He did He claimed His authority as
the Son of Man and not as the Son of God.

6
  • Now what does this mean to us? Because we are
created from and designed with the same stuff, we
have the same authority on earth. In Christ, we
are authoritative on earth because we are human,
    just as He was.
  • See the problem is that we don't know who we are.
We have become a kingdom of ignorant kings
ignorant of our identity, ability, power and
    authority.
  • Like the prodigal son we sit in the mud and
stench of the pigsty, nibbling on dry corn husks,
never lifting the eyes of our spirits to behold
the riches of our Father's estate that are ours
if we will only reach out and claim them.
  • Our greatest enemy today is neither satan nor
sin, because Jesus defeated both at the cross.
Power is not the problem either. We have power.
That is why God does not send power to fix our
problems. Our greatest enemy is ignorance.
  • As long as we live in satans darkness, we will
never know that we are prisoners in our own
territory, slaves of an illegal ruler. Because we
don't realize the power we have, we allow satan
to run our lives, ravagaing our bodies with
sickness, draining our finances, destroying our
marriages, messing up our kids with drugs and
    alcohol.

7
  • Jesus came to show us who we really are and to
expose the enemy's false kingdom. See Jesus came
to introduce us to ourselves and to call us to
become the people God always knew we could be.
  • Dan 718 'But the saints of the Most High shall
receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom
    forever, even forever and ever'
  • We have Kingdom authotity, and the Lord wants us
to live it. God is waiting on us to move into or
to receive the Kingdom, because therein lies
blessing and power and purpose and promise.
  • The choice is ours. It is a matter of maturing
our Kingdom mentality, of learning to think,
talk, and act like the royalty we are rather than
like the slaves the devil has told us we are.
  • We need to arise and exercise our God given
authority, and reclaim conquered territory tha
satan has stolen from us. It's all about taking
the war right into the enemy's camp.
  • A slave mentality simply rolls over and yields to
the enemy's demands, assuming there is no other
choice. Kingdom mentality faces the enemy square
    on and says, No way!
