As part of the PSA briefing sessions you provided
us with your current situation and future plans
are with regards to parenting support within your
local authority On your tables there is template
which indicates the current roles that exist
within your local authority that are providing
parenting support - please review this and amend
where appropriate

Parenting Support this financial year For

provide a structured framework and approach
towards parenting support using the PSA funding
and learning Have a consolidated parenting

    promotion of National Occupational Standards and

  • Increasing use of evidence-based practice by
    working with commissioners and managers to effect
    a culture change in parenting provision

What support can the TDA offer?
  • The TDA are offering the following package of
    Support
  • Documenting and sharing examples of effective
    practice
  • Regional events to support PSA networking and
    practice development
  • PSA practice networking sessions for local
    authority leads that are introducing PSAs into
    schools
  • Production and dissemination of marketing
    resources to build awareness and interest in PSA
    role
  • Briefing and development events to introduce
    local authorities to the PSA initial training
    process and materials
  • Around 1,000 SWiS (Parent Support) training
    places funded for professionals providing school
    based support to parents
  • Working with the National Academy of Parenting
    Practitioners, CWDC and other key stakeholders to
    further develop training and qualification
    opportunities for PSAs

Evidence Based Parenting Programmes
  • A national database of evidence based parenting
    programmes (Commissioners Toolkit) is held by The
    National Academy of Parenting Practitioners

  • There are currently approx 147 providers listed
    on the database, with details of
    their programmes, target groups and evaluation
    findings.
  • The toolkit is currently being updated.
