Section 12 Deferral
  • Section 12(a) of the RE Act provides Borrowers
    with the flexibility to request an extension of
    principal and/or interest in the case of
    financial hardship
  • Principal and/or interest can be deferred for a
    period not to exceed 5 years
  • Interest deferred will be added to principal and
    loan will be reamortized over the life of the
    debt.

  • The Telecommunications Program has identified
    27 current telecommunications borrowers serving
    80 of the counties designated by FEMA in the
    disaster area.

  • Drinking Water Assessment EPA continues
    assessment of damage to local drinking systems
    and providing technical assistance to help
    restore service in Alabama, Mississippi and
    Louisiana. Many systems were disabled or
    impaired by loss of electrical power, and some
    are now operating under boiled water notices.
    The total number of systems that remain affected
    is 1 in AL, 433 in MS, and 469 in LA. EPA has
    two mobile laboratories in MS and 2 in LA.

  • Wastewater Treatment Facilities EPA continues
    to assess wastewater treatment facilities
    affected is now 114 in LA and 9 in MS. All
    wastewater systems in AL are operating normally.

National Finance Center
  • USDAs National Finance Center in New Orleans was
    evacuated as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
  • Staff was directed to alternate work sites in
    Philadelphia, Pa, and in other locations around
    the country.
  • Operation is fully functional.
