What Is ODAT?

• Global working group of industry, government,
  academia, end users
• Unified under single committee
• Formed to ESTABLISH a standardized 120 mm optical
  media archival test methodology and to PROMOTE
  its implementation

Brief History

• First meeting held at OSS in Sept 2005
• Exploratory, to sense interest level
• OSTA ODAT committee formed as a result of initial
  strong response
• 6 meetings to date, 2 in Tokyo, 4 in US
• Typically 12 to 15 companies and growing

ODAT Structure/function

• Created as independent committee within OSTA
• 2 functional working groups
• WG-1 Specification Technical Development

Progress of Standard Development

• Base draft developed in OSTA WG1
• Co-operation Agreement signed with Ecma
  International in May
• Will continue processing from June at Ecma
  International TC31 committee
• Target end of 2006 completion, ISO version in
  2007.
