• School expenditures have increased and revenues
  remain stagnant
• A previous school traditional income tax expired,
  causing Ledgemont to lose crucial funds
• To remain solvent, Ledgemont made devastating
  cuts
• Cut 11 staff members
• Cut four bus routes
• Froze teachers salaries
• Ledgemont will borrow a half million dollars from
  the state

A Proposed Income Tax Issue 26

• To continue to deliver a quality education to our
  students, Ledgemont School District is proposing
  an 1 ¼ earned income tax to pay for school
  operating expenses for a period of five years.

• Will generate funding to protect the Districts
  necessities
• Good teachers and administrators
• Up-to-date books and technology
• Advanced Placement courses
• Extra-curricular activities
• Transportation

• Income from social security, pensions,
• dividends, welfare, unemployment benefits,
• child support benefits and interest would not be
  taxed with an earned income tax.

• More devastating cuts would have to be made
• Lay off more teachers
• Elimination of busing, sports and
  extra-curriculars
• Cut AP and computer technology courses

Ledgemont Schools is at Risk

• The ODE will consider merging Ledgemont with a
  neighboring school district
• As a result, residents would likely pay higher
  property taxes
