History of CAA
  • Started in 1904 as the Manitoba Motor League.
  • The club started with only 12 motorists, and is
    one Manitobas oldest existing companies.
  • CAA now has 160,000 members.
  • It is part of the Canadian Automobile
    Association, which is affiliated with AAA across
    the United States and clubs all over the world.

CAA is comprised of three main categories
  • Auto-Touring
  • Trip-tiks, maps, tour books, travellers cheques,
    IDPs, travel health insurance, merchandise,
    member services, road side assistance
  • Travel Agency
  • Cruise specialists, Disney experts, flights, tour
    packages, visa assistance
  • Home Property Insurance

Management Structure
  • In Winnipeg, there are three branches Empress,
    St. Annes, and McPhillips
  • Within each branch there is a Manager and a
    Supervisor
  • As Travel Counselors, we communicate more
    directly to the Supervisor
  • The branch manager acts as a liaison to the
    administration offices

My Duties
  • Sell CAA memberships
  • Quote and sell travel health insurance
  • Receive and sell merchandise
  • Sell travelers cheques, IDPs, foreign currency
    and attraction tickets
  • Take passport photos
  • Assist members with trip planning by providing
    maps, tour books, and Trip Tiks
  • Reception duties
  • Provide information to members regarding
    Autopacs Immobilizer program
  • Promote and sell VISA Travel Money Cards
  • Organize the Summer Staff BBQ

Conclusion
  • CAA Manitoba is a perfect example of how a

  • The staff is continually encouraged and treated

  • We are all empowered by management to do whatever
    it takes to WOW the customers
  • I would recommend CAA to other students
    interested in learning more about the tourism
    industry
