12Lahti Region Business Strategy 2005-2008 was
established year 2004. Cleantech Cluster was
selected to be the potential cluster for future.
All the main resources were targeted for the
development of that cluster. Cluster operates
in groups and branch groups - led by businesses
and co-ordinated by LahtiSBP. Financial
resources are being secured at least up till 2013
since the national and regional programmes
provide financing for the development work.
Even more strenghtened focus on new strategy
2009-2013!
13Business-oriented and market-led Enterprise-cent
red projects aim at developing business
operations, increase jobs, and create new
business activities. Jumping from small
domestic pilot projects to rapidly growing global
markets where environmental technology solutions
are needed. Globalisation and competitiveness
are the core pillars of Lahti Cleantech Cluster.
14Results and Impacts Being small and innovative is

- LahtiSBP is the leading environmental technology
centre in Finland - Leadership of Finlands national environmental
technology cluster in 2007 - Mandate to act as a coordinator of the IASP
Enviroparks network in 2006 - Attracted investments worth more than 30 million
euros and some 170 new jobs to the region
2005-2007 - Primus motor of cleantech venture capital and
investor attracting activities in Finland - Lahti Cleantech Cluster as the initiator, and
LSBP as the coordinator, of a new national
venture, The Finnish Environmental Cluster for
China (FECC) - LSBP as the coordinator of Finnish solid waste
management and energy efficiency clusters for
Russia
