Scientific Rationale

• Will help fulfill MSRA charge to Bycatch
  Reduction Engineering Program to provide
  information and outreachthat will encourage
  adoption and use of technologies
• Will save and make available data that is
  inaccessible or degrading to gear researchers
  worldwide who are tackling similar problems
• Rescued data will be placed on existing on-line
  databases like www.bycatch.org

Project Accomplishments

• Digitized into pdfs about 100 documents from the
  early years of Turtle Excluder Device (TED)
  development
• Digitized 16 videotapes and 272, 35mm slides

FY 2009 Plans

• In FY09, we will continue to digitize documents,
  slides, and video for TEDs and will begin
  digitizing information for bycatch reduction
  devices (BRDs) and other gear research.
• There are approximately 2500 pages of documents,
  800 slides, and 1300 hours of video.
• Completing the project should take another year.
