• keratinized stratified squamous epithelium
• contains 2 cell types

• located beneath the epidermis

• Papillary layer

a thin layer of LCT contain capillary plexuses
and Meissners corpuscles

• Reticular layer

under the papillary later consists of irregular
DCT contain large blood vessels, accessory
organs of skin, nerve, and Pacinian corpuscles
