2000 Field Trial Close Mow

• Resulted in 4 reduction of broadleaf weeds
• Took 3/4 labor hours over 5 weeks, to do the
  mowing

2000 Field Trial Mechanical Removal

• Resulted in 68 reduction of broadleaf weeds
• Took 17 labor hours to do 1800 ft2
• Generated 6 tractor-bucket loads of green-waste
  per 1800 ft2
• Bare soil was left exposed for 5 weeks

2000 Field Trial Weed-torch

• English daisy rebounded from burn within three
  weeks
• Resulted in no reduction in broadleaf weeds
• Took 2 labor hours to burn 1800 ft2

2000 Field Trial Roundup

• English daisy were initially knocked-back, but
  not totally killed
• Resulted in 50 reduction in broadleaf weeds
• Took 1/2 labor hour to treat 1800 ft2

2002 Field Trial calcium nitrate

• Treated plots with CaNO3 at a rate of 0.9 lbs
  nitrogen, followed by Turflon at label rate.
• Resulted in 50 reduction in broadleaf weeds

2005 integrated approach

• Lobbied and got approval to purchase fairway
  aerifier. Began twice-yearly fairway
  aerifications.
• Began twice yearly overseeding of fairways.
• Began treating fairways up to 3 times a year with
  tank mix of
• Turflon at label rate -0.25 gal/acre manganese
  product
• Quicksilver at label rate -0.25 gal/acre
  magnesium product (Flex)
• 12.5 lb/acre amonium sulfate -1 lb/acre 15-0-0
  fertilizer with 8 Fe
• Surfactant
• Approximately 50 reduction of English daisies on
  most fairways. In 2008, broadcast herbicide
  applications are only happening on 4 of 17
  fairways.

2007 Sapphire Field Trial

• After 2 treatments, English Daisy cover was
  reduced from 35 to 2.
• Did see some turf burn, may have been related to
  surfactant, or rate.
• Dow is working on CA label, and rate
  recommendations to avoid turf burn.
