Development of dendrimer-based microbicides

• SPL7013 (VivagelTM) a polyanionic dendrimer
• Dendrimers macromolecules synthesized with
  highly defined 3-D structure/architecture capped
  with active, polyvalent surface molecules.
• SPL7013 active against a wide range of HIV-1
  clades, HIV-2, HIV-1 clinical isolates (CXCR4
  and CCR5) and HSV-1 and HSV-2.
• a) Generation of SPL7013-resistant virus in
  vitro.
• b) SPL7013-R cross resistance profiles to other
  entry inhibitors.
• c) Assessment of SPL7013 activity in cell
  culture assays designed to mimic the
  cervico-vaginal vault/environment.
