Author Caroline B. Cooney
  • Caroline Cooney was born in 1947 and grew up in
    Old Greenwich, Connecticut. She was an excellent
    student and loved books Always an avid reader,
    Cooney mostly read series books such as THE HARDY
    BOYS and CHERRY AMES. She has won many ALA awards
    in her life.

Characters
  • Matt-Is a foster kid and is living with the
    Rowens.
  • Katie-Is also a foster child that lives with the
    Rowens.
  • Pollard-Is Matt Katie's social worker.

Protagonist
  • Matt is the protagonist even thou it doesnt
    seem that way at the first of the book.

Antagonist
  • The antagonist in my book is Mr. Kitchell he is
    Lizs father and he thinks that it is evil to ask
    people to give presents to children that cant
    afford them.

Problems between characters
  • Matt does not get along with Tack because Tack
    has a family and he doesnt and this causes
    friction between them.

Plot
  • The plot circles around Matt and Katie. Foster
    kids that have been going from foster home to
    foster home for as long as the can remember. They
    stay in with the Rowens for a copal of mouths
    until the Rowens pick Matt and Katie gets a new
    family for Christmas.

Settings
  • The setting is a little country town where
    everyone knows everyone and Christmas is take
    very seriously even though almost know one
    believes in religion.

  • The story is told in third person.

  • The theme of my book is that as bad as something
    might seem it can only get better.
