• Born on December 5, 1901, to Elias and Flora
  Disney on Chicago.
• He was often beaten as punishment
• The Disney family had very little money
• He would have to work several jobs to maintain

Before the World

• When Walt Disney created Disney Land he did not
  buy the surrounding land
• Small tacky businesses bought up the land and
  Walt was upset
• Walt really disliked all the tourist traps

• He considered St. Louis and Niagara Falls.
• He finally decided on Florida, because of the
  weather, lots of available land, and very
  accessible.

• He bought land under different company names
• He ended up buying 27,000 acres

The News Got Out

• Walt eventually told that he was building a new
  park in Florida

• The price for land skyrocketed

• Before Walt had been paying 180 an acre. The new
  price was 80,000.

• Due to extreme care, the park had plenty of land
