• The sun is similar to most of the other stars in
  our galaxy
• Large ball of gas made mostly of hydrogen and
  helium held together by gravity
• Middle-aged yellow star

Surface Features of the Sun

• Sunspots mark cooler areas on the suns surface
  related to changes in the magnetic properties of
  the sun.
• Solar Flares are giant storms on the surface of
  the sun. Particles from the solar flares
  interact with earths upper atmosphere called
  auroras.
