Grading Policy
  • Class work and participation (25 of your quarter
    grade)
  • Each student will be given a participation grid.
  • Participation grids will be collected
    periodically
  • and a class average will be determined. Any
  • student who receives less than the average score
  • can write sentences to make up the difference (1
  • sentence per point) and submit the next day to
    bring
  • the participation score up to the class average.
  • There will be some class work that will be
    collected
  • and graded as well.

Grading Policy continued
  • Homework (25 of your quarter grade)
  • All homework assignments should be complete when
    you enter the classroom. Homework will either be
    checked or handed in. Up to three late
    assignments will be accepted per quarter, if a
    late homework coupon is attached to the
    assignment. If you choose not to use the late
    homework coupons, they may be handed in for 5
    bonus points. Students who are absent from
    school will be given 2 days to make up the
    assignments. If a student does not have a late
    homework coupon, it may be handed in one day late
    for half credit.

  •   Quizzes (25 of your quarter grade)
  • Quizzes will be given on a regular basis and
    will range in point value from 10 to 50 points.
    They will generally be announced 1 to 2 days in
    advance.

  • Tests (25 of your quarter grade)
  • Tests will be given less frequently and will be
    worth 100 points. They will cover an entire unit
    of material and will be comprehensiveonce you
    have learned something, it may show up on future
    tests. Tests are announced between 3 days to 1
    week in advance.

Absence policy
  •   If a student is not in class for any reason, it
    is their responsibility to make up all missed
    work. If they are absent from a class on a quiz
    day, it will need to be made up upon return. If
    a class is missed due to a lesson, student should
    see me at home-base the day of the lesson to make
    up the work. Long term absences will be dealt
    with on an individual basis.

Classroom procedures
  • Beginning of class All students should come
    to class on time and prepared. Students should
    go directly to their seat make sure their
    homework and participation grids are out.
    Homework board should be checked and information
    should be recorded in assignment notebook.

Tardiness
  • Any time a student arrives late, it is important
    to hand me the pass, be seated quickly and join
    in whatever activity is already in progress.
  •

End of class
  • Class is not over until the teacher dismisses
    everyone. Students should remain in their seat
    working until that time. Students should not put
    away materials early, line up at the door, or
    walk around the room. Before leaving, chairs
    should be pushed in, desks cleaned out and the
    floor should be free of trash.
