  • Data Collection Issues (1)
  • Web info quite useful in data
    collection.Satellite info absolutely
    important.Experienced personnel strong
    asset.Pre-existing questionnaires useful.

3
  • Data Collection Issues (2)Significant
    discussion concerning data standardization there
is still a long way to go before data can be
    cross-utilized without problems.Fortunately GIS
is still young enough that the standardization
problems should be able to be overcome. Data
combination is important, but again data
    standardization is an issue.

4
  • Functions to perform/support PIThe consensus
was that, at least in Breakout Session C, little
use of GIS is taking place in support of the
functions noted. This is not to say no GIS is
being done, but only rudimentary maps are
    utilized.

5
  • How Would Technology Support Tasks?Public
health does utilize GIS but at low levels all
analysis is still human driven.Breakout group
C did not have sufficient public health expertise
    to address emergency response issues.

6
  • CollaborationBreakout Session C felt that this
was one of the most important unaddressed issues
facing public health at this time. All members
realized that collaborative efforts are impeded
by certain parochial concerns. The group felt
that this type of small meeting is one way to
    foster interagency and international cooperation.
All felt that GIS would play a significant role
    in communication efforts.Table top exercises
have been done and IT and GIS have played
    important roles
