42
Gas Piping
  • It is very important that the gas line is
properly purged. Failure to properly purge the
lines or improper line sizing, will result in
ignition failure. This problem is especially
noticeable in NEW LP installations and also in
    empty tank situations.

43
Natural LP Gas Pressure
  • Minimum Gas Pressure 3.7 W.C.
  • Maximum Gas Pressure 13.5 W.C.
  • Minimum Gas piping size ¾ (boiler provided with
    ¾ x ½ pipe reducer)
  • Incoming Pressure drop should not exceed .5 W.C.
Nat or 2 W.C. on LP
  • Minimum distance of 10 feet between gas regulator
    and boiler

P125 Control
  • Shows the boiler supply (outlet) water
temperature on the LED Display as default.
  • Adjust the supply water set point, the set point
differential, and change the display mode
    between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
  • Provides Error and Fault Codes on the LED
    Display.
  • Shows the supply and return temperatures, fan
speed, flame signal (µA), boiler circulator
status, boiler set point, total power on hours,
boiler on hours, and the number of cycles.
  • Allows manual control of the firing rate using
    the Service Mode.

49
Display ModuleProgram Functions
50
Programming Supply Temperature set point
  • To access the menu, press and hold the S3
"Program" key on the display module.
  • The control will enter the Supply Set Point
    selection.
  • The display will alternately show "C" and then
    the current set point temperature.
  • The set point may be adjusted by using the S1/-
(to decrease) or S2/ (to increase) keys on the
    display module.

To Store settings Press S3 and continue
51
Programming Set Point Differential
  • The differential adjustment is the difference
between the temperature that the boiler shuts
down (high) and the temperature at which it
    re-starts (low).
  • The differential may be set to values between 5F
    (3C) and 30F (17C) in 1F increments.
  • The boiler will always shut down at a temperature
7F (4C) above the set point.
  • The differential temperature is then applied to
    this value.
  • The set point differential may be adjusted by
using the S1/- (to decrease) or S2/ (to
increase) keys on the display module.
  • To Store settings Press S4 to END !!!!!!!!

52
Measurement Units
Finally, by pressing the S3 "Program" key again,
the display will advance to the Measurement Units
selection. The display will alternate between "t
and either "F" or "C" depending on the units
selected. This value may be changed by using the
S1/- or S2/ keys on the display module.
Pressing the S3 "Program" key once more will exit
the program mode and again display the supply
temperature.
53
Status MenuAccess by press S4 and hold for 3
secondsPress S4 again to scroll through codes
Press S3 to Exit Menu
54
Installer Menu
To enter the installer menu, press and hold the
S3 "Program" key and S4 "Reset" key
simultaneously for 3 seconds. The display will
show a blinking "000. Use the S1/- and S2/
keys to change the display to read 125. Press the
S3 "Program" key to enter the installer menu.
(The control will shut down the boiler if it is
in operation.) The display will alternate between
1 and a value of either 0 or 1.
The Pinnacle boiler can be programmed to be
controlled by an external 0-10 volt analog input
controlling set point temperature or fan speed.
In addition, it can be programmed for a 6 minute
step modulation sequence.

ASME Advantages
  • Each Boiler is Tested and Certified by a Third
    Party
  • Provides Credibility to the Product
  • Many Municipalities Require ASME
  • Most Insurance Companies Require ASME
  • Many Other Agencies Require ASME
  • MIL Specs Require ASME
  • Litigation is Aided by ASME
  • Its Not a Pressure Vessel Unless it is ASME
    Certified!

71
THE END THANK YOU
72
Blower
  • Disconnect the white, red, blue, and black
connection from the Molex to the combustion
blower at the control board. This will cause the
    fan to run at 100.
  • This will then blow out any sediment that has
accumulated in the condensate line if we block
    the vent termination.

73
Gas Valve Conversions Honeywell gas valve for
natural gas has NO orifice between the valve and
the air intake venturi.
  • Need a Torx T25 nut driver and a 2 Phillips
    screw driver.
  • Kit numbers Natural to LP
  • PI-80 90334 orifice 4.0mmLP
  • PI-140 90335 orifice 5.3mmLP
  • PI-199 90336 orifice 5.4mmLP

74
Amps Draw.87 amps draw upon start up .37 amps
draw running
  • Read the flame rod with a voltage meter to read
the flame current. If its less than 1 micro-amp,
change or clean the flame rod. (4.2 micro-amps on
    high fire).
  • Check the Gas pressure while the unit is running
to determine if pressure is adequate.

75
Failure while Running
  • Check that the condensate drain is clear, and
that condensate can flow freely from the boiler.
Back ups create steam which suffocates the flame,
throws off rectification, or in the worst case,
soaks the refractory plates, causing the spark to
    ground out instead of sparking.
  • The CO levels at the exhaust breach should be
less than 100 ppm on high fire on all units.

76
Failure while Running
  • If there is a concentric vent kit installed,
check that it has been properly assembled and
GLUED. Exhaust gas recirculation will cause the
unit to fire then fail almost immediately.
  • On a PI 80, check that the brass vent barb on the
rear of the gas valve is not blocked by the rear
of the boiler cabinet. If so, shift the boiler
    slightly forward in the cabinet.

77
Boiler is Short Cycling
  • First Check for Proper Water Flow through the
    system.
  • If the Boiler continually fires and shuts down,
check incoming gas supply. An interruption, or
insufficient supply of gas will allow the boiler
to fire only briefly before failing without a
    fault code.

78
Water Pressure Switch
  • The water pressure switch is designed to fault
the boiler off in the event that the system
pressure falls below 10 psi. The maximum
pressure that is allowed to the switch is 87 psi.
  • If a water pressure switch is leaking internally
it can short out the 24 volt transformer in the
control board, showing an error code.
  • This is seen more often with systems filled with
    anti-freeze.
  • Circulator location and piping should be as per
manual. P/S with pump on return to boiler.
