2005 Learning Lessons Today
13
ICODAP Observation
  • The goal of training is to convert students from
    a No can do! attitude
  • To an assured self-confidence of Know. Can.
    Do!

14
Observations at EOD School - 1
  • Most self-eliminations occur after Christmas
    break
  • Computer-Based Training was not as successful as
    was hoped
  • Training ties points to communicating
  • Feedback goes immediately into the curriculum

15
Observations at EOD School - 2
  • CBT DID work for training on robots
  • Old generation worked on autos and motorcycles.
  • New generation plays action video games
  • Instructors are former students who stuck with
the job and tell the tales of the characters and
    places that define the job

16
Translating Todays Stories into Lessons Learned
  • Beware of the tag-lines CBT Failed
  • Remember and re-tell the stories -- the stories
are about people and choices, not just how to
    procedures
  • Look to the high-stakes environments and the
    superperformers for new lessons

17
In Closing from San Antonio
  • We believe our stories are important.
  • If you hear the whole story, you might find
lessons for today that didnt make it to the tag
    line status
  • We are preparing video tapes from our founding
members and re-editing tapes from past
conferences to make available to chapters in the
    future.
