Gas Stream Component Samples
  • Samples of components and construction materials
    were placed in a sealed box outside the radiation
    area with the exit ionization gas passing through
  • The samples were exposed for 960 hrs

  • The samples were removed and some were stuck
    together.
  • Stycast 1266 was sticky
  • Did the glue spread / evaporate and stick the
    parts together??

Conductive Glue Sample in Outlet Gas Stream
  • This is the surface as cured of a sample of
    conductive glue Tra Bond 2902
  • Visually the surface appeared brown from an
    unexposed sample.

Summary
  • Samples of Stycast 1266 were tacky after exposure
  • Conductive epoxy Tra Bond 2902 appeared brown
    after exposure
  • Many of the small parts were stuck together after
    exposure
  • None of the other materials were visibly damaged
    but they were only observed optically and were
    not examined under the SEM
  • F deposits were on the surface of the conductive
    epoxy and found 150 ?m below the surface
  • The glass from our flow meter was more frosted
    than prior to the start of the run
