  • Ana es más alta que Miguel.
  • Ana is taller than Miguel.
  • Mi abuela es más simpática que mi abuelo.
  • My grandma is nicer than my grandpa.

The comparative more than más que
  • From the examples you can easily see that to say
    something is MORE THAN something else is
  • más (adjective) que
  • The sentence pattern is
  • (The noun) is más (adjective) que (the
  • other noun).

A couple things to keep in mind
  • Keep in mind IS comes from SER.
  • (and Estar, but Ser in this case!)
  • es- for singular
  • son- for plural
  • The adjective agrees in gender and number with
    the FIRST noun in the comparison.

  • Therefore no agreement is necessary.
  • Did you also notice that now we are using mostly
    TENER, not ser?
