  • Correlative Conjunctions
  • Coordinating Conjunctions
  • Subordinating Conjunctions

Coordinating Conjunctions
  • Coordinating Conjunctions connect words of the
    same kind, such as two or more nouns or verbs.
    They can also connect larger groups of words,
    such as prepositional phrases or even entire
    sentences.
  • Examples of Coordinating Conjunctions and, for,
    or, yet, but, nor, so.

Correlative Conjunctions
  • Correlative Conjunctions connect the same kinds
    of words or groups of words as do coordinating
    conjunctions, but correlative conjunctions are
    used in pairs.

Subordinating Conjunctions
  • Subordinating conjunctions connect two ideas by
    making one idea dependent on the other.
  • Frequently used subordinating conjunctions are
    after, although, because, before, if, in order
    that, unless, and while.

Interjections
  • An interjection expresses feelings or emotional
    functions independently from the rest of a
    sentence.
  • An interjection is set off from the rest of the
    sentence by a comma or an exclamation mark.
  • Interjections can express different feelings or
    emotions.

  • Joy Wow! I cant believe the size of this
    statue.
  • Surprise Oh, I didnt expect to hear from you.
  • Pain Ouch! That hurts.
  • Impatience Tsk! How long do they expect me to
    wait?
