Title: Online Food Ordering

1
Online Food Ordering
  • Dylan Wheeler

2
Idea
  • Ordering food to go from restaurants can be a
hassle when done by the phone. Orders can be
misunderstood or mistakes made when the order is
written down. The entire process would be made
much more efficient if there was a form that
could be completed online and sent to the
restaurant, and a few minutes later you could go
    get your food.

3
Customer
  • The customer of the product would be the
restaurants who would be taking the orders.

4
Users
  • Users of the product would be the customers of
the restaurant, who would place orders through
    the restaurants website.

5
Implementation
  • An HTML form which could be customized for the
    restaurant.
  • The form could be sent to an email address or
even sent through fax once it is submitted.
  • The product would not be difficult to implement
because it is a generic HTML form template with a
    few customizations for each restaurant

6
Implementation cont.
  • The form would have to simple enough for both the
customer and the user to be able to use it with
    very little training.
  • The restaurant would also need to be trained in
how to update the form should their menu change

7
Benefits
  • Less chance of a mistake when compared to placing
an order over the phone, especially if English is
not the restaurants or the customers first
    language
  • Easy to maintain
  • Easy to update

8
What Isnt in the Box
  • The restaurants would need an on-site computer
that has Internet access so that the form could
    be received.
  • If the form is submitted as a fax, then the
restaurant would also need a fax machine
associated costs with a fax machine would be
    paper and ink
  • Restaurant would also need to pay for hosting
    services

9
Alternatives
  • Some alternatives in implementation
  • Instead of training someone to update the form,
maintain a subscription service or a fee to
update the form for the restaurant
  • Also providing maintenance to the site should
    anything happen to it
  • Providing hosting services could also be a
    possibility
