• The Use Directive.
• The HSE Implements ATEX 137.
• The Dangerous Substances and Explosive
  Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR).
• It is concerned with the Health and Safety in the

  may be present.

CAT 1 - STORAGE OF TECHNICAL FILE

• If the equipment is to be used in a Zone 0
  environment, the manufacturer must gain an EC
  Type Examination and ATEX certificate from a
  Notified Body, and Quality Assurance issues
  apply.

CAT 2 - STORAGE OF TECHNICAL FILE

• For category 2 non-electrical equipment, the
  completed technical file must be submitted to a
  Notified Body for their storage (for 10 years).
• Please note that a Notified Body will not review
  the file, they will just store it.

CAT 3 - STORAGE OF TECHNICAL FILE

• If the equipment is only to be used in a Zone 2
  environment, the manufacturer can declare
  compliance (on completion and storage of the
  technical file) and label the product
  accordingly.
• There is no legal requirement for the technical
  file to be submitted to a Notified Body in this
  case.
