What is Sinulog?

• Cebus biggest and most popular festival held on
  the 3rd day of January
• A century-old tradition observed in the Visayan
  region, in honor of the Holy Image of Señor Santo
  Niño

What is Sinulog?

• Symbolizes the Filipinos pagan past and their
  acceptance of Christianity
• A nine-day fiesta celebration with two major
  activities the religious procession on a
  Saturday and the grand street parade the
  following day

What is Sinulog Dance?

• The dance is patterned after the water current
  movement which Cebuanos refer to as sulog of
  what was known as Cebus Pahina River
• Characterized by two-forward and onebackward
  steps, synchronized to the beat of drums and
  shouts of Pit Señor! Viva Sto. Niño

• Fiesta enjoins people in the community during its
  celebration.
• We can celebrate fiesta in a way that we are
  happy without spending too much.
• Fiesta should serve as the uniting force for us
  humanity.
