3-1- Localisation of the Project
BACAU
4- 2 - PRESENT SITUATION
- Sewerage
- Several sections of large main collectors are in
bad shape, collapsed and leaking - Groundwater is lower than the sewers so
exfiltration leads to groundwater pollution and
high contamination risks - Some areas are frequently flooded due to
insufficient sewer capacity - One of the neighbourhoods across the river uses
a wastewater pumping station that needs urgent
rehabilitation. - No investment in sewerage in MUDP2.
5- 2 - PRESENT SITUATION
- Waste Water Treatment Plant
- The plant can treat only 50 of the incoming
flow the rest is send directly to the
Bistrita River - Siret River
- The treatment efficiency is less than 36
- The inlet works are not functioning properly -
40 efficiency - The biological treatment is way below EU and
national standards - 25 efficiency - The sludge management is not proper.
6- 2 - EU DIRECTIVES
- The measure is intended to cover for 240,000 PE
for compliance with EU Directives - surface water quality 75/440/EEC
- urban waste water 91/271/EEC
- hazardous waste 91/689/EEC
- civilised sewerage for 180,000 inhabitants
7- 3 - PROJECT DESCRIPTION
- rehabilitation of the Bacau sewerage system -
applying to the damaged sections of the trunk
mains - rehabilitation of a wastewater pumping station
- rehabilitation of the Waste Water Treatment Plant
to fully treat the incoming flow at required
parameters - introduction of a proper sludge management
