Professional Development IPD and CPD
  • WHAT IS CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL
    DEVELOPMENT?CPD is defined as any activity or
    process that provides added value to the
    capability of the professional through the
    increase in knowledge, skills and personal
    qualities necessary for the execution of
    professional and technical duties often termed
    competence. It is sometimes called Life-Long
    learning or Continuing Education.
  • CPD is self-managed process of maintaining
    professional competence and whilst it is not
    monitored by the IMechE, is obligatory under the
    by-laws of the Engineering Council for all
    professionally registered Members
