2
The Importance of Jesus Virgin Birth
3
The early Church did not celebrate Christ's
birth, at all.
4
They were far more concerned with His death,
resurrection, ascension and session.
5
Eccl 71b, The day of ones death is better
than the day of ones birth.
6
So when we celebrate His birth we must emphasize
His death, resurrection, ascension and session as
the ultimate reason for why He was born.
7
Why did Jesus have to become a man, especially by
means of the virgin birth?
8
1. To be our Savior by paying the penalty for our
sins as a like kind sacrifice - humanity. John
13 and Eph 5
9
Eph 51-2, Therefore be imitators of God, as
beloved children and walk in love, just as
Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us,
an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant
aroma.
10
Jesus came to pay the penalty for our sins,
thereby creating the opportunity for salvation
for every member of the human race.
11
2. To establish true humanity and His rightful
relation to the people of the earth. John 316
Rom 83 Heb 214-15, 17-18
12
Rom 83, For what the Law could not do, weak as
it was through the flesh, God did sending His
own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an
offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh.
13
Heb 214, Therefore, since the children share
in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also
partook of the same, that through death He might
render powerless him who had the power of death,
that is, the devil.
14
John 316, For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes
in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
15
3. God can not sin and can have nothing to do
with sin, therefore pure deity could not be our
Savior. James 113
16
Also an animal could not pay for the sins of
mankind because they are a lower creature. Heb
911-14 101-7, 10
17
So God found a way to have our sins paid for so
that we could be reconciled to Him by sending
His Son through the virgin birth. Mat 118-25
Luke 126-37 with 2 Cor 521 Phil 25-8 Heb 122
18
2 Cor 521, He made Him who knew no sin to be
sin on our behalf, so that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him.
19
Heb 122, Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author
and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set
before Him endured the cross, despising the
shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the
throne of God.

Luke 28 tells us that an angel appeared to some
shepherds staying out in the fields who were
keeping watch over their flock by night.
