Joshua 101-15
3
Now Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard that
Joshua had taken Ai and totally destroyed it,
doing to Ai and its king as he had done to
Jericho and its king, and that the people of
Gibeon had made a treaty of peace with Israel and
were living near them. He and his people were
very much alarmed at this, because Gibeon was an
important city, like one of the royal cities it
was larger
4
than Ai, and all its men were good fighters. So
Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem appealed to Hoham
king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia
king of Lachish and Debir king of Eglon. "Come up
and help me attack Gibeon," he said, "because it
has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites."
Then the five kings of the Amoritesthe kings of
Jerusalem, Hebron,
5
Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglonjoined forces. They
moved up with all their troops and took up
positions against Gibeon and attacked it. The
Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp
at Gilgal "Do not abandon your servants. Come up
to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all
the Amorite kings from the hill country have
joined forces against us." So Joshua marched up
6
from Gilgal with his entire army, including all
the best fighting men. The LORD said to Joshua,
"Do not be afraid of them I have given them into
your hand. Not one of them will be able to
withstand you." After an all-night march from
Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise. The LORD
threw them into confusion before Israel, who
defeated them in a great victory at Gibeon. Israel
7
pursued them along the road going up to Beth
Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and
Makkedah. As they fled before Israel on the road
down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the LORD hurled
large hailstones down on them from the sky, and
more of them died from the hailstones than were
killed by the swords of the Israelites. On the
day the LORD gave the Amorites over to
8
Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence
of Israel        "O sun, stand still over
Gibeon,        O moon, over the Valley of
Aijalon."   So the sun stood still,
and the moon stopped,        till the nation
avenged itself on its enemies,       as it is
written in the Book of
9
Jashar.       The sun stopped in the middle of
the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
There has never been a day like it before or
since, a day when the LORD listened to a man.
Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!
Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp
at Gilgal.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty
power. Put on the full armor of God so that you
can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world and against
the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly
realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God,
29
so that when the day of evil comes, you may be
able to stand your ground, and after you have
done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with
the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with
the breastplate of righteousness in place, and
with your feet fitted with the readiness that
comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to
all this, take up the shield of faith, with which
you can
30
extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil
one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray
in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of
prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert
and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Joshua 1010-12
37
And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and
slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and
chased them along the way that goeth up to
Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto
Makkedah. And it came to pass, as they fled from
before Israel, and were in the going down to
Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones
from heaven upon them
38
unto Azekah, and they died they were more which
died with hailstones than they whom the children
of Israel slew with the sword. Then spake Joshua
to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up
the Amorites before the children of Israel, and
he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou
still upon Gibeon and thou, Moon, in the valley
of Ajalon.
39
Psalm 2714 Wait for the Lord, be strong and
take heart and wait for the Lord.
Isaiah 4031 But they that wait on the Lord
shall renew their strength, they shall mount up
with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be
weary, they shall walk and not faint.

James 16-8 But when he asks, he must believe and
not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave
of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That
man should not think he will receive anything
from the Lord he is a double-minded man,
unstable in all he does.
42
Matthew 77 Ask and it shall be given to you,
seek and you shall find, knock and the it will be
opened unto you.
43
Mark 11 22-23 "Have faith in God," Jesus
answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says
to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the
sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but
believes that what he says will happen, it will
be done for him.
44
Joshua 1013 So the sun stood still and the moon
stopped till the nation avenged itself of its
enemies.
Matthew 1926 Jesus looked at them and said,
with man this is impossible but with God all
things are possible.

Mark 917-29
47
A man in the crowd answered, "Teacher, I brought
you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has
robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it
throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth,
gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your
disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could
not."   "O unbelieving generation," Jesus
replied, "how long shall I stay with
48
you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the
boy to me."   So they brought him. When the
spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy
into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and
rolled around, foaming at the mouth. Jesus asked
the boy's father, "How long has he been like
this?"    "From childhood," he answered.
"It has often thrown him into fire or
49
water to kill him. But if you can do anything,
take pity on us and help us."   " 'If you
can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for
him who believes."   Immediately the boy's
father exclaimed, "I do believe help me overcome
my unbelief!"   When Jesus saw that a crowd was
running to the scene, he rebuked the
50
evil spirit. "You deaf and mute spirit," he said,
"I command you, come out of him and never enter
him again."   The spirit shrieked, convulsed
him violently and came out. The boy looked so
much like a corpse that many said, "He's dead."
But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to
his feet, and he stood up. After Jesus had gone
indoors, his disciples asked him privately, "Why
51
couldn't we drive it out?"   He replied, "This
kind can come out only by prayer.
