What is an infinitive?
  • An infinitive form of a verb is the verb in its
    purest form (meaning without being conjugated or
    altered in any way).
  • All verbs in English that have the word to in
    front of the verb such as to run, to jump,
    to eat are in its infinitive form.
  • Verbs in Spanish that are in its infinitive end
    in either Ar, -Er or Ir.
  • The Ar, Er or Ir is the equivalent to the English
    word to in front of the verbs.

Regular -Ar verbs
  • -Ar verbs are simply verbs that end in AR
  • Examples
  • Abrazar, besar, comprar, arreglar
  • To conjugate these verbs, remove the Ar and add
    the appropriate ending.
  • The ending has to match the person that is being
    discussed (1st person, 2nd person, etc)
